Privacy policy

Short, because there is not much to say. Searching and browsing leave nothing behind and need no account. An account and a booking are the two places you give us anything, and what happens to it is set out below.

If you create an account

An account is needed to book and for nothing else. It holds your name, email address and a hashed password, and optionally a phone number and date of birth. Your appointments stay in it; the details we passed to the practice are cleared thirty days after each one. You can ask us to delete the account and everything in it at any time. What we collect

• Nothing you type into a search. Searches are sent to our own directory service to fetch results. They are not tied to you, and there is no account to tie them to.
• No third-party trackers. This site loads no analytics scripts, no advertising tags and no social widgets. That is an architectural rule here, not a setting.
• No sale of data. We do not sell information about you, and we do not share it for advertising.

Booking an appointment

Some practices have connected their scheduling system, and where they have, you can hold an open time from their listing. To do that we ask for four things — your name, date of birth, phone number and email address — because that is what a practice needs to match you to the right chart rather than open a second one.

Those details, and the appointment you chose, are passed to the practice’s own scheduling system. Once the appointment reaches the practice, their records and their privacy notice govern it, and they are the ones who can change or cancel it.

We also keep them, for thirty days. A practice that says the booking never arrived needs us to be able to show what we sent and when, and we cannot do that from nothing. Thirty days after the appointment your name, date of birth, phone number, email address and reason for visiting are cleared from our side. The practice still has them; we do not need them twice.

What survives that is a count and nothing else — how many appointments were booked with a practice in a month, and how many they cancelled. No name is attached to it.

Requesting an appointment with a named physician says something about your health, so we treat it that way. The booking form asks for one optional free-text line — what the visit is about — because a practice needs it to give you the right appointment length. Leave it blank if you would rather. We ask for nothing else: no symptoms beyond what you choose to write there, and no history.

Ordinary server records

Our hosting providers keep the usual technical logs — an IP address, a timestamp, which page was requested — for the ordinary reasons any site does: keeping the service running and stopping abuse. We do not use them to build a profile of you.

Physician listings

The details on a physician’s page are professional, published information that the physician chose to list for patients. Nothing on this site is your medical record.

When accounts open

Patient accounts are being built, and they will hold considerably more than a booking does. This page will be replaced with the fuller policy those accounts need before the first one is opened — not afterwards.
